Lesson #1 - Your Brand New Life!
Asking Jesus Christ into your life is the first step in a whole new life for you. It is the most exciting thing in the world that can happen to you. This Bible Study will help you understand more about your decision to ask Jesus into your heart.
It would be very easy for you to just check the answer boxes - but you will grow the most if you look up the answers in your Bible for yourself. When it comes to the answers, don't take our word for - look it up yourself! OK?
1) Turn in your Bible to Luke 15:10: What does this verse say happens in heaven when a sinner accepts Jesus Christ into their heart?
2) To become a Christian I had to know that I was a __________________. Romans 3:23 will help you with the answer to this verse.
3) What does the word sinner mean? ________________________. (If you have a dictionary you can look it up there.)
4) Sinners are separated from God. But they can become a child of God by doing which of the following:
a) being good
b) being baptized
c) joining a church
d) by receiving Jesus Christ as your Saviour
(John 1:12 will help you with this answer)
5) Have you asked Jesus Christ to come into your heart? ______
When (what date and/or place) ______________________________
6) Then what does John 1:12 tell you that you are now? _____________________
7) What did Jesus say He would do if you asked Him to come into your heart? (See Revelation 3:20 will help you with this answer) _______________________________________
8) There are times when you may feel like you are not a Christian. But you must remember that our feelings work like a yo-yo - up and down - up and down. The most important thing to remember is to trust what God has written in His Bible. Read 1 John 5:13 and pick out the word that helps you with this. Is it the word:
a) feel I have eternal life
b) know I have eternal life
c) think I have eternal life
d) hope I have eternal life
9) Look at the picture below and see what it is trying to tell you.
The engine = FACTS - things which are found in the Bible
The coal car = FAITH - our faith
The Caboose = FEELINGS - our feelings
Will the coal car and the caboose go by themselves? _______
Will the engine and the caboose go by themselves? _________
What two parts of the train will be able to travel together? ______________
Right - the engine and the coal car. So our Faith put in the Facts (The Word of God which is the Bible) is what we need to do.
10) So let's see some of the facts: Look up the following verses and see what facts you can discover:
a) John 3:36 - What does it say about the person who believes in the Son Jesus Christ)? _______________
Have you accepted Jesus Christ? ____ So then what do you have? ________________
(this is another way of saying that you have Jesus in your heart forever)
b) John 10:28-30 - Who is holding us in His hand? ____________________
Is anyone stronger than God? ________ So can anyone take you out of God's hand? ____________
c) Romans 8:35,38-39 - what can separate us from the love of God _______________________
That's right - absolutely nothing!
